Hawtree defeat

On Saturday 16th May, we 4 Men and 4 Ladies played the 2nd round of the Hawtree Trophy against Wycombe Heights.

Our home teams won by 1 point, but our away teams were no match for the Wycombe Heights home teams losing by a few points.
Thanks everyone for playing and supporting both the men’s and women’s sections of the club.

Hawtree Trophy 1st round victory

Under cold, windy conditions, 4 Men and 4 Ladies from Rickmansworth played in the NAPGC’s Hawtree Trophy competition. 2 pairs at Ricky and 2 away at Wexham Park.

A fantastic effort was made by everyone, and we narrowly won by 122 to 121 points. Now we go on to play Wycombe Heights on 16th May.

A Win For The Ladies..

The Ladies played their first friendly match of the new season at home to Little Hay on April 15th.
We won 3 games to 1 with Mary Harris getting a birdie on the 1st, winning the next 5 holes and putting the opposition in an uncomfortable position which Mary and Ulla managed to capitalize on. 2015 Ladies’ fixtures

JULY NEWSLETTER –  LADIES GOLF LETTER

June started with our match against Moor Park.  We were over subscribed with ladies wanting to play and I am sorry we were not able to accommodate you all.

Ladies match result

The ladies played a home game against Haste Hill on Wednesday 4th June. We did contemplate postponing the match as the weather forecast was dire. However, we decided to play and all seemed fine until half-way and the rain came down – more indecision but fortunately we carried on and the sun shone.

Our golf was similar to the weather – up and down. The final score 2-1 to Haste Hill and one match halved. Haste Hill were a pleasure to play against and we all enjoyed the match. The jacket potatoes were excellent and catered for the vegetarians and non-cheese eaters admirably.

Moor Park match report

An historic golf match took place on Monday 2nd June on a combined course playing holes on both Rickmansworth and Moor Park. Iw was the first time the two clubs have played each other since the original Moor Park East course was bought by Rickmansworth Council in 1937 and given as a public course for the people of Rickmansworth.

I am very grateful to Tom Moore, Ben Plumridge and especially my grandson Matt (who stepped in at lunch time on Monday) for filling the places. The match started at the first hole on Moor Park with Gerald Hirst and June Poppleton driving off against the Ladies’ captain and the Men’s captain of Moor Park. It was a very exciting game of foursomes made more interesting by having lightning fast greens on the West Course of Moor Park and then crossing over to play 5 holes on Ricky. Rickmansworth did very well winning 4 of the 6 games – one of our games was won on the last putt on the last hole. Before we all get too excited we were not playing a crack Moor Park team but even so we were very happy with the result.

Moor Park then hosted an excellent dinner with wine in their splendid Thornhill  Room. A very fitting end to a truly memorable day. We are very grateful to the captains and golf committee at Moor Park and thank them most sincerely.
