Pontoon results…

As you may know, the Club runs a football ‘pontoon’ competition throughout the regular season. This is a good way of raising funds for the Club and also a bit of fun for the members. Roy Prue runs the pontoon and the rules are very easy…

£1 per week gives you 2 teams drawn randomly. The idea is to have your team scoring exactly 11 goals before anyone else. If you can do that you will take all or a share of the 60% winnings. There are also prizes for highest and lowest scores. If you’d like to get involved in this bit of fun, then please speak to Roy Prue. All members, friends and family welcome!

The first 2 results of the season are:

Super Secretary cans the Captain…!

Saturday’s Captain v Secretary match at Rickmansworth ended as a great win for Roy Prue’s Secretary’s Team. The day started with a random draw to decide the teams:

Captain’s Team: Dave Watson, Colin Taylor, Rob Camilleri, Anthony Light, Tom Moore, Graham Dalvarez, Dave Miles, Alec Franks and Denis Curran.

Secretary’s Team: Roy Prue, Ian Brown, Mike Watson, Graham Jordan, Ian Lewis, Munir Ahmed, Bernie White, Mick Rogers, Graham Farmer & John Jones.

Roy led from the front with an impressive 43 points to set his team on the road to victory in this competition where all stableford points counted. The Captain’s team fought back in the 2nd & 3rd matches, and for a while it looked as though The Captain may be strolling to victory. But just like our Ryder Cup team, a massive fight back was on and excellent scores from the last 3 groups saw the Secretary’s Team storm home for a win by 339-320 points.

The top point scorers on each team Roy Prue and Tom Moore both won Ryder Cup 2012 polo shirts.

The winning team were treated to their after match meal by the losing Captain’s Team members. Well done to everyone who played…great weather yet again, excellent company – a great success – thank you all for your support. Hope  to see more players for 2013’s re-match!

Dave Watson, Captain 2012 and Roy Prue, Club Secretary
