Ladies’ match report v Wexham Park

On Wednesday 22 May we had a home match against a lovely bunch of Ladies from Wexham Park. The weather was lovely, the food was lovely, the ladies were lovely. We all tried our hardest but we were unable to beat Wexham Park Ladies – the final result was 2½ to 1½. Our team was Mary Harris, Christine Fairman, B Arlow, Adrienne Finch, Pat Ladd, Sherril Bryden, Ann Paris and Joan McLaughlin.

Rickmansworth go down by one point at Little Hay

In this inaugural match v Little Hay for the prestigious “Hayrick Trophy”, twelve players put in a superb performance in this better ball Stableford format going down by just one point with all to play for in the return match at Rickmansworth in November.
Notable performances from Ian Lewis and Graham Farmer with a magnificent 46 points, followed closely behind by the Jacksons with a 45 point return. Also a special mention to Steve Clements who made his debut for the Club coming in with 41 points with partner Rob Camilleri.

Our thanks to Little Hay for being hospitable hosts and making the course, which was in superb condition, a pleasure to play.

Well done Ricky!!!!!!!!!

Club Day round up

Congratulations to Graham Farmer; winner of our annual Club Day competition last Sunday. A good turn out of 51 players took part on the day where Stableford points were the required currency of the day, along with good iron play for the 5 nearest the pin prizes. Bright and breezy best described the conditions with the back nine in particular playing quite hard into the prevailing wind. Graham set himself up with a spectacular 27 points on the front nine (!), and was probably disappointed to come home in only 13 more, albeit for a terrific total of 40 points. Graham was the clear winner and was presented with the Maude Banks Memorial Trophy and a very generous 1st prize donated by the pro shop of a pair of new top-of-the-range golf shoes.

2nd place was settled by count back as 4 players came in with 37 points; Dave Watson (2nd), Stefan Kunka (3rd), Tom Moore (4th) and Peter Maestas (5th).

The charity nearest the pin on hole 2A was won by Ian Lewis, and the other nearest the pins were won by Dave Watson (5th), Abe Megias (7th), Dave Hudd (13th) and Steve Clements (17th).

Thanks for everyone’s support of this day – we will keep improving the day for next year.

Member’s questionnaire – 1st replies

As most of the members will know, we recently asked the membership some questions about the Club. We had many responses which we thank you all for. The first few questions related generally to Club social events, but the last question was for Members to give suggestions on improving the Club. Plenty of suggestions were received, but some related to the course & clubhouse areas. These points were put to Jim McLeod, complex manager and below is his reply. The committee is actively working on other suggestions relating to club affairs and will report back in due course.
