Thanks to Anthony Light

The Club would like to thank Anthony Light for organising a very successful tour to Magaluf in Mallorca.

Excellent golf courses, a good hotel and great weather all added up to a good time for the 16 Ricky golfers who made the autumn trip to the Spanish sunshine. The Lads even spent a great night in Benny Hill’s bar watching England clinch qualification to the World Cup Finals, a memorable evening that will live long in the memory.

Men’s match report: Rickmansworth v Bushey Golf & Country Club

This is the first time this match has been played in a number of years. Bushey won the first leg 4-2 at their course, so once again we had a lot to do if we were going to turn this match around. With the Captain and Bernie White losing the first match, the match looked dead and buried with us needing to win the next five matches. Well the Ricky boys did not disappoint – we did win the next five matches! What an outstanding effort by everyone. Particular mention to Archie who shot a fantastic two over gross ably supported by his partner Bob Horton who both walked away with the sweep money. Also we welcomed new member John Shamoon who performed well under the mentoring of serial major winner Dave Miles. Thanks to all the Bushey boys who were great company and made this a really enjoyable fixture.

Club Tour 2013 – Majorca

It seems the Club’s 2013 tour to Majorca is going well. The lads left Luton airport on Saturday and this is the first photographic evidence we have had beemed back….

Poor old Sippo, just 13 points on day 1!  Gary Sippetts Majorca 2013

Men’s match report: Batchwood Home

The score from the away leg: Batchwood 234 points – Rickmansworth 207 points

Trailing by 27 points from the away match in March, we had it all to do for us to claw back the 27 point deficit. The team put in a great effort winning by 17 points but not enough to bring us a victory overall.

The scores on Saturday were some of the highest ever seen at Rickmansworth. The green keepers seemed to have adopted a scorched earth policy, where’s all the rough gone? This along with greens like puddings contributed to some outstanding scoring with the worst score for us being 44 points. Multiple major winner Dave Miles and Captain Mick Rogers took the sweep money with 50 points!

Well done to Batchwood to win the match overall. Judging by their scores they enjoyed the day, as well as the very nice food laid on by the fairway inn. Well done to our team, a great effort but unfortunately just not quite enough.

The score on the day was: Rickmansworth 273 points – Batchwood 256 points

The overall score for the 2 legged match was Rickmansworth 480 pts – Batchwood 490 points
