Senior’s & Ladies match update

On 21st July ten Rickmansworth Seniors played ten Rickmansworth Ladies for the Holden-Mallick Trophy. An enjoyable day’s golf was followed by an excellent tea including delicious caked supplied by the Ladies Captain. Detailing the result would be unchivalrous. Suffice it to say that the Seniors retained the trophy.

The only Seniors/Ladies mixed match of the season was played away at Oakland Park on Monday 28th July. The fine summer day was spoiled somewhat by a thunder shower towards the end of the round, and the result, with Ricky going down 1-5.

Off and running in HFL !

An all-round team performance secured a first victory in the Herts Friendly League against a strong undefeated Stevenage team. All five pairs scoring 40 points or more and the club winning 220-212 points.

Club debutants John Shamoon and Graham Simon scored well but it was Chairman Dave Miles and Club Secretary Roy Prue who picked up the sweep with 49 points on the better ball format. Light rain with the threat of lightning had greeted the players, but as the clouds disappeared and temperatures soared to 28 degrees the match ended in bright sunshine. An away match in early August at Panshanger is our next league match.

Senior match result

The Ricky Seniors played Little Hay away on 17th July and in a close match which had two ties and two wins on the last hole, repeated the result of the home match a 3-3 tie. This result gives a 3 way tie at the top of the newly inaugurated 4-Clubs league. Ricky, Little Hay and Bushey CC each have 6 points but the advantage is with Ricky with two matches to play while Bushey CC have one remaining fixture at Rickmansworth and Little Hay have finished.

Senior’s defeated

A sunny July 10th saw Ricky Seniors travel to Huntswood to try to avenge a home defeat inflicted three weeks earlier. Though Ricky’s performance improved, it was still not good enough to prevent a loss 2-4.
