Senior’s match report v Shendish Manor

Rickmansworth Seniors vs. Shendish Manor (home), Tuesday 12th May 2015

Rickmansworth Seniors were defeated at home on Tuesday 12th May by Shendish Manor GC Seniors by 4 games to 2. This result does not reflect the fact that the games were mostly very closely contested with four of the six games decided by only one hole and three of them decided on the 18th green!

When the match started it was raining and dull but after about an hour the rain stopped and we enjoyed sunny and dry conditions but it became increasingly windy which made the closing holes very challenging.

The Shendish team were a very charming and friendly group and we enjoyed the post-match meal and banter!

We now look forward to the return match at Shendish Manor on 12th September and hope we are then able to turn the tables! 2015 Senior’s fixture list

Further success in Daily Mail Foursomes…

The Club is delighted to congratulate our representatives in this season’s Daily Mail Foursomes competition, Graham Simon & John Shamoon, on a hard fought victory over Essendon Country Club at home on Sunday 10th May.

According to Graham… “our opponents were really gracious golfers and great to play with. They played off handicaps of 1 and 3. They didn’t miss a fairway. They did struggle a bit with the putting though, narrowly missing a lot between 5 and 20 feet. John and I played very erratically, holed no putts and were three down coming off the fourteenth green. We finally got our act together and ended up winning on the twenty-first hole.”

Many congratulations from all at the Club and best of luck again in the 4th round.

Seniors pipped at the post…

On General Election day, the Seniors played away to Huntswood. John ‘Killer’ Jackson got the team away to a flying start in the first match, playing the first four holes in level par. The result was as close as the general election forecast, being all square after five matches, but Huntswood edged ahead in the last match to leave Ricky defeated by 2½ to 3½.
