New Captain’s Message…

It’s a great honour to be your club captain this year. I have been playing golf for 21 years and first joined Rickmansworth as a junior in 1999. I have always found Ricky to be a true test of golf, and love the fact every hole is different.

I would like to thank Danny Simmonds, last year’s captain, for all his efforts in 2015 and for giving me the opportunity to be his vice.

I would also like to welcome my vice-captain, Peter Maestas, who I’m sure will make a great captain next year and who has already helped me out a lot. Also, I would like to wish the ladies captain and senior captain the best of luck in their year.

We have a full calendar of club matches this year. I hope to see many of you (new, as well as old, members) supporting both me and the club in these matches. We get to play on some great courses and the matches are always played in a good spirit. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to play for the club.

I hope that you will support the pro shop and bar as much as possible this year. The guys in the pro shop do a great job and many deals are to be had.

This year, I have chosen The Sick Children’s Trust as my charity. I have worked with them before and they do a great job helping to support families with very ill children in hospital. I hope that you will be able to give generously to this deserving charity.

I wish you all the best of luck for the upcoming season and will see you on the course.

Captain 2016

A message from the new Ladies’ Captain

With great pleasure, I take this title on for 2016, along with my Vice Captain, Joan McLaughlin.

I would like to thank Ann-Maria Loughman for all the work she did last year as Captain, and the work she is going to do this year organising the internal competitions. I would also like to thank the Committee, as well as the Men’s and Senior Captains, for all the support they are already giving me. Last, but not least, I would like to thank the Fairway Inn, the Pro shop staff and the Groundsmen for all the work they do to keep the course running so smoothly.

I have played golf at Ricky since 2009, when I first took up golf, and still find the course challenging, and the members helpful and friendly.

The ladies section is small but friendly and everyone joins in with club competitions and matches against local clubs. We also enter the NAPGC ladies knockout competitions and, together with the men, in the corresponding mixed knock out.

Please do contact me or Joan if any lady players would like to come along to our 10am Monday & Wednesday roll-ups. Everybody will be made welcome.

My charity for the year is Macmillan Cancer Support.

Wishing everyone the best for the year.
