Ricky match report

Rickmansworth played away at Aylesbury park on Saturday 21st May. The weather forecast was not good with predicted heavy downpours, but thankfully the rain stayed away until the last group had finished. Ricky managed to get an honourable 3-3 draw. There were some great scores on the day but the stars of the day were Peter Maestas and Danny Simmonds who won their match 4&2, and had an incredible 50 points. Also I would like to thank Peter and Martin Bartlett who scored an impressive 43 points on their debut club match. Well done to everyone who played.

Seniors’ match update

Ricky Seniors visited Huntswood for their fifth match of the season on May 5th under the leadership of Martin Holden. While Martin pulled off a 3&1 win and modestly admitted that his inspirational leadership enabled the rest of the team to come away with a very creditable draw 3-3.

The Seniors narrowly avoided an organisational disaster on May 9th for their sixth match of the season against Haste Hill; each team thought they were playing an away match. Luckily the confusion came to light a few days before the match and thanks to the co-operation of the pro-shop and Fairway Inn we were able to stage the match and feed the visitors at Ricky. Bob Horton captained the team. Martin Holden and his partner John Murphy starred, chalking up a comprehensive 7 and 5 victory – no mean performance against a pair containing a player who managed to drive both the 14th and 18th greens. Unfortunately Martin and John’s feat could not be emulated by the rest of the team and Ricky lost the match  2½-3½.
