Seniors’ match win

The Seniors returned to action on 27th June after a month off caused by a fixture gap and a postponement due to rain. We entertained Batchwood Hall looking to avenge, in a friendly manner, an early season hammering. Frank Haines was Captain for the day and helped John Murphy to a comfortable 8&6 win. Welcome to Larry Fahey and Steve Browning who both made winning debuts. Although the momentum couldn’t be maintained, Ricky eased to a 4½-1½ win, not quite avenging the 6-0 away defeat, but satisfying nonetheless.

Graham Farmer Club Captain 2016

Disappointment vs Meyrick Park

Ricky hosted Meyrick Park last weekend for the return leg of the annual club match between the two clubs. A beautiful sunny day welcomed the players. Rickmansworth had managed a hard fought 3-3 draw away and hoped this would be enough to clinch victory at home. The day started well with the Captain (Graham Farmer) and John Shamoon winning their match 8&6, and scoring 47 points. The next two groups to come in were a loss and a half scoring 40 & 39 points respectively, leaving the match level with 3 groups to come in.

The next two were a mirror of the previous two, a loss and half with scores of 40 & 42 points. This meant it was all down to the last group of Ashley Pearce and Ian Mackie needing a Ricky win to level the match. Unfortunately, even though they scored a fantastic 45 points, they went down 2&1, their opponents scoring an incredible 49 points.

Even though we lost, the match was played in a great spirit and we look forward to the fixture next year. I would like to thank everyone who played and better luck in the next match.  2016 Men’s friendly match results
