Men’s club match result

Ricky hosted the return fixture of the annual friendly match vs Aylesbury Park. After a full English Breakfast, and under hot sunny skies the teams headed off to the first tee. Ricky had managed a 3-3 draw away which meant advantage Rickmansworth. The match was very close, many of them going down the 18th. The first 2 matches were both halved the 3rd was a win for Aylesbury, but the next 3 all went to Rickmansworth winning the home match 4-2 (7-5 overall). Well done to Dave Miles and Peter Maestas winning the sweep with 46 points. Many thanks to Aylesbury, we are all looking forward to this very popular friendly next season. 2016 Men’s friendly match results

HFL match result

Rickmansworth hosted Stevenage in the HFL. After a resounding defeat away (213-195), Ricky were determined to avenge (in a friendly manner) the result – which they did winning by 25 points 222-197. Well done to sweep winners Mick Gornicki and Rob Camillieri with an amazing 49 points. A Great day was had and many thanks to the Stevenage team who were great company and we’re all looking forward to the match next year.

Seniors v Ladies match

On a scorcher of a day, Monday July 18th, the Seniors took on the Ladies in an attempt to regain the Mallick-Holden Trophy. A great opportunity was missed. The ladies had eleven players signed up and Colin Timms volunteered to play for them wearing a skirt and wig so we could have six fourballs. Unfortunately one of the ladies had to withdraw (or maybe no-one wanted to play with Colin in a skirt!), so we had to play five matches rather than six. The Ladies succumbed to the Seniors 1½ to 3½ and we were all left wondering what might have been.

Latest Seniors’ match results

American Independence Day saw the Seniors take on their nemesis, Haste Hill away, never having won since Martin Holden resigned as Captain three years ago. The barren spell continued with Ricky going down 1½-4½. Trevor Spencer and David Griffin recorded Ricky’s only win on the day.

The second Seniors’ match of the week on 7th July was the return fixture at home against Huntswood. A draw at Huntswood gave cause for high hopes of a victory. These were fulfilled with a resounding 5-1 win.

The Seniors were captained by Roy Prue at Little Hay on one of the best days of the summer so far, 14th July. This was the return fixture of the Seniors’ opener of the season which they won 4½-1½. Home advantage seems to be the deciding factor in this fixture as Little Hay almost reversed the score running out winners by 4-2, despite the efforts of Allan MacDonald and Trevor Spencer who were Ricky’s only winners, the other point coming from two halved matches.

Men’s victory over Richmond…

Rickmansworth hosted Richmond Park at home this weekend. Richmond had been winners in the last 2 years and were looking likely to retain the cup after a lead of 4-2 at their place. After some last minute changes to the team a big thank you to David Grace who stepped in on the morning of the match. All 6 matches recorded a victory for Ricky, winning 6-0 on the day and 8-4 overall. The winners of the sweep were Graham Farmer and Rob Camilleri with 48 points. A big thank you to everyone that played and I would like to congratulate John Murphy and Neil Paterson on their first men’s match for the club.

Captain’s Day report

Captain’s Day 2016 saw 53 people take part under sunny skies. Home made cakes and drinks were sold on the 13th hole, all in aid of The Sick Children’s Trust. I would like to thank my wife for baking all the cakes and both my mother and wife for helping out on the day.

When the players had finished they sat down to a light lunch of ham, egg and chips. Many thanks to Grant and the staff at The Fairway Inn. The scores were tallied up and some great scores were had. In second place with 41 points was Gerald Hirst, but a big congratulation to the winner Joshua Simon with a great score of 42 points. The guest winner was Craig Bartlett. Also well done to all the nearest the pin winners and the longest drive winner.

The day managed to rise £418.60, a big thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets, cakes and drinks – I’m sure The Sick Children’s Trust will be very pleased for all your donations. A very big thank you to everyone who supported me on the day.
