Rickmansworth v Batchwood Match Report – Sat 18-Mar-2017

The first HFL match was hosted by Rickmansworth under a damp looking sky and some early year butterflies. First match out was Peter Maestas and Jake Jacobson, it was all looking so good at the turn with Ricky team leading by 4 points. However, the wheels seemed to come off on the back nine and the first team out lost their match and scored only a measly 30 points ;-( to the opposition’s 39. It was down to the rest of the team to pull this one out of the hat. Some good scores were coming in, in match 2 (Danny Simmonds and David Grace) with 45 points, and match 4 (Bernie White and John Shamoon) with a draw at 40 points. Match 3 (David Hirst and Martin Bartlett) lost their match 39 to 45, with David playing some fantastic golf according to Martin. So it was down to the last two to pull it out for Rickmansworth, (Rob Camilleri and Peter Bartlett) who came in with 44 points to 38 points. At this point it was looking all so close, but after totaling the points, at least 6 times, Rickmansworth lost the match by one point to Batchwood, Rickmansworth with 198 points and Batchwood with 199 points, GUTTED! Danny Simmonds and David Grace took away the sweep with the 45 points they accumulated in the round, well done gents and let’s hope for more scores like that in future rounds. We’re now looking forward to an away win at Batchwood on the 12th of August to redeem our loss at home.
