Ricky Seniors win at home to Batchwood

Mon June 25th 2018

The seniors completed a magnificent win over Batchwood on the hottest day of the year so far. This result puts us at the top of the 4 clubs league.

The 5½ to ½ result was well earned and two of the many highlights were the Geoff Bull and the late substitute Mike Mortlock pairing coming in at 6&4, and Steve Browning and Roger Jones who won 6&5.

In fact, so versatile are our team that after ensuring he had won his match, Roger Jones, rushed to Moor Park to put a tourniquet on a member of their green keeping staff who had cut himself badly after overturning a golf cart. Well done Roger or shall we call him ‘Nurse Nancy’ from now on?

Rickmansworth v Meyrick Park – Saturday 23rd June 2018 – Home Friendly

This match is always a popular one with the members and was the first in the two leg annual friendly match. The players turned up ready for the full English breakfast before heading out to the course. The course was in good condition and lived up to its ‘Tricky Ricky’ reputation.

There was great golf being played by both teams but home advantage really told with Rickmansworth winning 4½ to ½.

In the sweep, the second group of Dave Miles and Mick Rogers came in with 50 points and I thought that was easily going to win the money, but the third group of John Shamoon and Peter Maestas came in with an amazing score of 52 points! Well played to both pairs.

The other 3 groups came in with a measly 44, 43 and 42 which another week could of won the money.

I would like to say a big thank you to Peter and John as they both donated their winnings to my charity Bloodwise.

Thanks again for all the support.

Rickmansworth v Richmond – Saturday 16th June 2018 – Away Friendly

This away match was the first in the two leg annual friendly match. The team turned up with the sun shining but the wind blowing. The wind played a big part all day and the course was in good condition, but like everywhere, it was quite hard which lead to some unusual bounces. The greens were probably the best we have played on all year.

All this lead to some great golf being played, but Rickmansworth unfortunately losing 1½ to 4½ but gives us something to work with back at Ricky.

We had two of the groups in the 40’s with Ben Plumridge and David Grace winning the sweep with 42 points.

Thanks again for all the support.

Rickmansworth v Stevenage – Saturday 9th June 2018 – HFL

This was the first away HFL match of the season for Rickmansworth and coming off the back of 2 home wins, confidence was high.

Stevenage Golf Course looked in fantastic condition before the match started and it proved to be all the way round. The golf being played in the sun was again of a high standard but getting an away win is tough, and unfortunately we had our first HFL loss of the season with a 179-197 final result.

Our sweep was won by Dave Miles and Jonathan Radford with a fantastic away score of 41 points.

Thanks again to all that played. HFL fixture list 2018
