Needle Shield and End of Season Report

On Saturday 13th October the HFL Needle Shield brought a close to the 2018 club fixtures. With a warm but windy October day forecast, the teams from all 5 league clubs met at Panshanger Golf Course. After all instructions were given out the players headed out to their tees for a shotgun start at 8.30.

The scoring was tough all day with the wind and course playing its part but the winners were the home side of Panshanger.

A big well done to David Wills who won the individual competition with a fantastic score of 43 points! The only player in a field of 60 players to be in the 40’s.

The season as a whole has gone better than I could of ever of hoped for. At the HFL Needle Shield we were presented with the winner’s trophy for the Herts Friendly League (Picture below).

This is an 8 match season with 4 matches at home, and 4 matches away. We won 6 out of the 8 matches with a scoring average of over 200 points in each match.

I am very proud that this is the first year that Rickmansworth have won the HFL, but I couldn’t have done it without the fantastic effort of every player that has contributed over the year.

We also had wins in all 3 of the annual friendly matches against Aylesbury, Richmond and Meyrick Park. Thank you and well done to all that have played in these matches.

Thank you to all that played in both my Captain’s Day and Captain’s Away Day. We managed to raise a fantastic amount for my Charity and hope you all had enjoyable days.

This leads me on to the club members. I have had such great support from all of you and without this we would not have had such a successful season.

I would like to thank you all for the support throughout the year and well done to you all too. I hope you will continue showing your support next year when Jake takes over.

In my start of season message I highlighted my goal to have a club feel and throughout the year I believe we have achieved this with a great relationship and atmosphere between all players either at a club match or a weekend club competition.

I have had such an enjoyable season and very proud to be the Rickmansworth Club Captain of 2018, so would like to thank you all again and best of luck to Jake next year.
